Born in Brighton, England, Paul studied Geography in Manchester, worked on glaciers in Pakistan, then decided to become a filmmaker.

Paul recently completed "Bomber", his debut feature as a writer and director. "Bomber" premiered in competition at SXSW (South by Southwest), and went on to win the Best Director Award at the Savannah Film Fesitval, the Best Feature and Audience Awards at the Estes Park Film Festival, the Best Feature at the 540 Film Festival and the Best UK Feature at the Falstaff (Stratford-upon-Avon) Film Festival.

Prior to completing "Bomber", Paul's short films premiered at the Berlinale ("Die Berliner Mauer"), Sundance ("Estes Avenue"), SXSW ("Odd Shoe") & Palm Springs ("Last Hand Standing"). His debut short, "Jeff Farnsworth" sold to HBO.

Paul has directed several award winning commercials, including "Stupid", an anti-smoking ad which is part of the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. His work has also won five Tellys and been honoured at the Chicago International Television Festival.

Paul supports Manchester City, likes the colour blue & occasionally directs theatre. Productions have included Donald Lewis's "Good Girl" for the Bailiwick, Richard Dresser's "Wonderful World" for the Infamous Commonwealth Theatre, and Neil Simon's "Barefoot in the Park" for VPT, all of which were performed in Chicago.

Paul has written plays for BBC Radio Drama.
